Time to Build

Church on the Move

A number of years ago it was reported that St. Paul's Cathedral in London was moving down towards Fleet Street at the rate on 1 cm every hundred years.  One minister who read the article said, "That's faster than most Churches are moving!"  It does seem strange to me that over the years the church has moved so slowly. We cannot stand still in the Christian life. We either go forward or gradually slide backwards. Over the last few years the congregation of  Drymen Parish Church has been working hard to make sure that it is truly a Church on the move.  The old 1771 church is having a £750,000 extreme makeover.  The congregation has given its unanimous support to our Time To Build vision to completely refurbish the church interior and to build, to the rear, our new annexe with 4 rooms, kitchen, toilets and new entrance.

This is a great time in the history of Drymen Church and an exciting time to be part of the congregation. We moved out of the church at the end of December and the work started in our church at the beginning of February.  The Time To Build project should be completed in November and we hope to be back in our 'new' church for Christmas.

In the meantime we have a new home in The Winnock Hotel where we meet every Sunday at 11.30am. (Coffee at 11am!)  We are so grateful for the generous provision of the Winnock Hotel. It is a warm, comfortable and relaxed setting for our services. If it's been a while since you've been to church, why not join us on Sunday morning at the Winnock. We promise you a warm welcome and a church that's moving in the right direction.

We want to be a church that is truly serving our local community and offering what people are searching for: forgiveness, freedom, purpose, love, acceptance and strength. It is good to be a Church on the move!

The photograph gallery will show the progress of the church alterations.

Fund Raising Initiatives

Our congregation is growing month by month and we have a longing to build bridges and reach out to everyone in the Drymen community.

The Fund Raising Committee is active and well supported. Our antique Search project promises to raise substantial funds. We believe God has a big vision for Drymen Church and we are excited, and encouraged, by that promise. Fundraising ideas, offers of help and donations are always appreciated.

For any enquiries please contact Jenny O'Keef

The talented tenner project is underway during March 2011.
